Work in progress. Last update: 31.12.2014

The register of Protestant communities active in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in the 16th-18th centuries was compiled by the Early Polish Culture Research Team at the Institute of History, University of Warsaw, in 2002-2006, headed by Prof. Urszula Augustyniak. The originator and coordinator of the project was Dr Marek Janicki (records marked MJ). The information concerning the various regions of the Commonwealth was collected by the former and current members of the Team:

  • Małopolska: Agnieszka Kuś (AK), Dr Rafał Jaworski (RJ) and Dr Marek Janicki (lata 2002-2003); the records were reviewed, supplemented and corrected by Anna Wilanek-Kińska (2005-2006);
  • Wielkopolska (from the beginning): Krzysztof Kubik (KK) and Maciej Próba (MP) (2004-2006);
  • Lithuania (from the beginning): Anna Szacoń (ASZ) (2004-2006)

The original project has been modernised by Maciej Ptaszyński, who has been the coordinator and originator of the second stage of research since 2005, and Dominik Purchała.
The compilation constitutes an introduction to further research and a database, currently under construction, which will cover not only Protestant organisations but also Protestant clergy. However, the authors hope that already at this stage it can be useful to people studying the subject and that, by making the collected material available on the Internet, it will be possible to remove unavoidable mistakes and inaccuracies.
The compilation is based on:
