NPRH No. 1aH 15 0373 83. Project leader: Marek Słoń, PhD, DSc, Associate Professor of IH PAN, implementation years: 2016-2021
The project has completed and supplemented the publishing series “Historical Atlas of Polish. Detailed maps of the sixteenth century”. The following tasks were completed:
- The summary of the project is, first of all, a collective edition of the entire series in Polish1 and English. 2 The collective edition of the Atlas is also The Polish lands of the Crown in the second half of the sixteenth century. Spatial database – a digital historical map and a repository of spatial data.
- The volumes of Podlasie (Podlaskie Voivodeship in the second half of the sixteenth century, edited by Michał Gochna and Bogumił Szady, Warsaw 2021 (Historical Atlas of Polish. Detailed maps of the sixteenth century, vol. 8), pp. 333, 8 maps and plans, indexes.)) and Kujawski (Kuyavia and the Dobrzyń Land in the Second Half of the Sixteenth Century, edited by Wiesława Duży, co-pr. Arkadiusz Borek, Michał Słomski, Warsaw 2021 (Historical Atlas of Polish. Detailed maps of the sixteenth century, vol. 6), pp. 274, 9 maps and plans, indexes.)) series, and a supplement was published to the volume of Pruski edited by M. Biskup (1961). 3 These volumes are available in the bookstore of the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences and in the future will be made available in the Digital Repository of Scientific Institutes.
- A source database from the registers of field collection from the second half of the 16th century has been developed.(The following volumes of section I of the Archives of the Crown Treasury have been indexed: 1, 2, 3bis, 4, 7-22, 24-28, 33, 37-49, 62, 63, 78, 79, 81, 83-86, 89, 90, 92-94, 96, 97, 102, 103, 106-108, 112, 114, 117, 119-121, 123-127; in total there are 72 archival units with a volume of about 77,000 manuscript pages.)) in tabular form. For the Podlaskie, Kujawskie and Puszskie voivodeships, it includes all full tax inventories, as it was previously done for Wielkopolska. From the remaining Polish territories of the Crown, at least one register was developed for each county.
- The other lists were brought closer to users by identifying each place mentioned in them: linking this place in the manuscript to the database and on the map using the INDXR application. Most of the registers published in an extensive form, as well as from other periods (15th century, first half of 16th century, 17th century) and from outside the Polish lands of the Crown were also compiled using the same tool; Here, the subject of identification was only the census itself, i.e. its type, territorial range and time of collection.
- In addition, materials for the historical and geographical dictionary of Kujawy and the Dobrzyń region were made available. 4
- The project also resulted in a series of monographs. Two of them, Tomasz Panecki (T. Panecki. The long life of old maps. Preparation of a digital edition of the Gaul/Raczyński map (1:125,000, 1807–1812) , Warsaw 2021., see also: ihpan.sfat.dev.)) and Tomasz Związek 5, are in print, and 4 more will be completed in 2022.
- The results of the research were also published in journals and collective papers, and presented during scientific conferences. Download the project bibliography.
