Initiated by Antoni Tyzenhauz, the administrator of the Royal Estates in Lithuania, the programme was continued by his successors, Franciszek Rzewuski and Stanis\u0142aw Poniatowski. It was intended to delineate the borders of the Royal Estates, classify the types of soil, and define the property relations to restore serfdom and dis-tribute the new burdens of the population fairly. The methodology of field surveys and their results in a table and maps are described, and the progress of mapping the four Royal Estates was evaluated.
